I wanted to blog about something I have decided I'm going to do in 2012. You've probably heard of it before, but maybe not. I've decided to take on the challenge of Project 365 in 2012.
I did Project 365 once before, back in 2008-2009, and it was a success. I tried it again this year (early in the year, you may remember), and it was not as successful. I'd like to think it's because Project 365 is something that lasts 365 days, and well, it's much easier to keep up with when you start at the beginning of a year...
...although that was not the case the first time, and I was successful.
Nevertheless!
I feel like 2012 will be a big year for us. I know God's plan is much bigger than my own, so, I figure, if things go the way we are planning for them to (as God laughs), it will be a big year. If things don't go the way we are planning in 2012, well, then it will still be fun to capture the unexpected, anyway, right? ;)
A few friends on Twitter expressed interest in beginning Project 365 in 2012 as well, and a link-up was discussed. I'd be more than happy to host a weekly link-up to share our photos. I'm planning on it being a Sunday link-up so that we can document the week prior, and begin a new week on Sunday.
Have you thought about doing Project 365 this coming year?
Are you going to do it?
Do you want to know more about Project 365?
Project 365 consists of taking one photo a day to document a year. Like I said, I did it in 2008-2009, documenting Jarrod's Iraq deployment. It's interesting to go back and look at those photos I took because I remember each one, and that daily photo for 365 days tells a story. To me, it's similar to reading a book, in a way.
Here are some of the photos I dug up from the last time I did Project 365:

Would you believe the next day we matched again?

Hanging out in Central Park.

R&R

I started tweeting in 2008…and apparently still had MySpace.

I had my very first paid session.

In 2009, we moved from our apartment into our house, and I set everything up
Now, as you can see, all but 2 of these photos was taken with my iPhone. My personal challenge to myself for my 2012 P365 is to use my camera every day. It's so convenient to pick up our phones to snap photos. My reason for doing P365 again is to document the year, yes, but I also want to do it to use my camera more…to be creative, not convenient.
I'd challenge you to do the same, but of course, you don't have to. I don't expect to not slip and use my iPhone, but I'm going to make it a point not to, if I can.
So…are you on board? If enough people are interested and planning on doing this, I will get a button ready, and we will have our very first link-up here on Sunday, January 8th.
Edit: I have added a button to my sidebar for the project! Feel free to take it to your blog! :)

So much fun! If you host I would def link-up. I love the idea.
I've always though about doing the 365 project but never knew if if it was something I would actually stick to.
i think i link-up + button would be a great idea!
I agree! My 2012 resolutions {two of many} is to take more pictures with my dslr and not my iphone and to blog regularly. This would help!!!
I would love to follow along your 365 adventure (but I don't have the gumption to participate at this point =)! And Merry Christmas!
I of course love the idea of a link up! I am in!!
Oh goodness...I tried P52 last year without success, but we shall see right. Maybe just maybe I'll make it the whole year this time?
This is exciting. I've been contemplating doing this for about a month and am really looking forward to it.
I am doing it this year! I already created a separate blog for it

Would love to link up too!
I wanna do it too! :D
I thought about doing this...I might have to try this out this year :)
I'm in!
This was one of my resolutions so I am So in!!
Sounds so fun, I think I might do it!
I think I might just try to do it as well... but I don't know if I can do the no photo on the phone part lol.
I'm SO participating in this! I got a Cannon for Christmas, and this will be a great way to learn how to use it!
I got a "big girl" camera for Christmas (well, a little early) and I'm super excited about Project 365 as a way to learn and be creative. I agree that camera phones make it easy to document but don't necessarily represent creativity.
Will you be using weekly themes?
Thanks for the button. I'm adding to to my blog as a way to stay accountable!
Can't wait to start this!!!! I have a super nice camera that I need to use more often!!
I've been hesitant to commit to this, but I'm going to try! I want to learn more about my new camera and the one I bought from you for Adam. Here's to a new year of learning!
I'm going to give a try.
I'm in. I've been looking for a list of themes and participants. I'll add your button to my blog. Hope you'll come visit. I too did Project 365 back in 2009 and it was a success and am looking forward to this new one! I'll check back often. Thanks!
